How young is too young

What is the appropriate age for a Rhinoplasty? Great question Generally cosmetic surgery to improve the appearance of a normal structure occurs when the area is fully developed and when the patient is emotionally prepared. As an example, we correct Ears that stick out when individuals are getting ready to go to 1 st grade because the ears are fully developed and the child is being teased. Rhinoplasties are performed usually after the facial features are fully developed - 13 to 15 years old.
Am I a good candidate for a rhinoplasty?

Great question. You are an attractive young lady and One can see the slight hump deformity on the dorsum of your nose. The best thing to do is to visit one on multiple board certified plastic surgeons. They will do an evaluation of your nose, take photos, use software to give you an idea what it might look like. Look at many before and after photos of their work to make sure that you like his artistic results. Your operation could be performed with a closed technique - no external visible scars.

There are multiple types of mastopexy techniques and same with Reductions. But the concept is to lift a breast ( mastopexy) or lift and reduce (Reduction)
Can a dorsal hump be shaved down without an osteotomy?

Excellent questions. You should visit a board certified plastic surgeon and he can review your history and exam you. They can go ovr the list of risks and complications. The risks of General anesthesia are very rare, and not much different than having anesthesia for any operation. One can take the hump through a closed rhinoplasty for sure. The reason to break the nose would be to prevent having an "open roof" deformity - or a flat dorsum. This would be part of the discussions.

We help people reach their goals and not do something to them that they do not see or bother them. Imaging maybe very useful to help show what changes can be made
How soon safe it is.

The timing of multiple procedures depend on your overall health, age, and the types of procedures you have had and want to have. The best person to talk with is your board certified plastic surgeon. He/she will know what works best in their experience. If the liposuction was not large, two weeks should be adequate to have surgery on a different part of the body in healthy individuals.
I need a slight nose reduction.

Rhinoplasty is a very interesting operation that can change your the way you see yourself. Go see a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon whom can show you a morphed photograph of yourself to see if that is the appearance that you desire. This is a great question. Many surgeons would not take on all of these operations simultaneously. First - you need to have an exam by a board certified plastic surgeon. Are you a good candidate for each of the operations you desire if done separately. If the answer is yes, are you in adequate health to undergo these procedures. Then you need to find a surgeon who is good and fast so that your total anesthetic time is acceptable. Ask multiple surgeons about their ability to perform your combination of procedures , how long it would take them to do it, and what their experience is with them. Finally, look at their results to make sure they meet your expectations. Good Luck

What a great question. How much surgery is too much at one time? The answer depends on the experience and abilities of your board certified plastic surgeon, your age, your health, your weight, smoking history, diabetes, etc. I have lectured on this topic at Aesthetica - and what I say is that the average healthy patient can tolerate about 6 hours of surgery planned. Some procedures tend to go better together. But the important aspects are your health, depth of anesthesia, blood loss during procedure, and what are the combination of procedure you are considering. The combination you are already considering would be close to my 6 hour rule because their are so many different areas that have to prepped out separately to do., and the time it takes for the local to work. Our society's campaign "Do your Homework" is paying off. You might want to go to this site written by one of our past presidents https://www.plasticsurgery.org/news/blog/how-to-ensure-your-plastic-surgery-is-safe Meet multiple surgeons until you feel comfortable with them as individuals and as a practice - are they responsive to your questions and concerns. Look at their photo of before and after patients and see if their results meet your expectations. Ask them their personal track record - including their complications, malpractice history, and whatever it takes to make you comfortable. Just because someone has been sued, does not mean they were wrong or bad . If they had lost multiple cases, one starts to become suspicious. Ask what happened. It is usually public record and reported to the National Databank that is discover able by you. Reviews can be helpful, especially if they have more than 50 or 100. You will get a general feel about what they are saying about them
Recovery period

Brachioplasty is an excellent operation for removing excess loose skin of the arms. This is done as an outpatient in an office ambulatory surgical center under anesthesia. Most of my patients are back to work in 3 to 5 days. One can not soak or swim for two weeks.
Breast Reduction at a Young Age

Sierra, You sound like a very good candidate to consider a breast reduction. It is hard to tell you what the best option is for you with out an examination.. I would suggest you visit a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with you parents. Most breast reduction surgery keeps your nipple/areolar complex alive. If you are truely a correct patient for this operation - insurance should cover it. Good Luck!
Insurance is covering panniculectomy. Can I pay the difference for TT?

Good Question First you should have an evaluation by a local board certified plastic surgeon near you. Are you a good candidate for the procedure that you are interested in? Once the correct operation is chosen, most plastic surgeons can help you work out the financial details. Typically, one applies to the insurance company for approval for a panniculectomy. One has to have the appropriate symptoms and physical findings , and your policy not having it excluded to get them to agree to covering the procedure. This is not as easy as you think. Most plastic surgeons have the ability to charge you for the additional cosmetic portions - Muscle tightening, additional upper abdomen elevation and soft tissue and skin resection, and possibly liposuction - and get you a cosmetic fee for the extra OR and Anesthesia costs. I agree, that in many parts of the country, you could have a cosmetic tummy tuck for less than you have been quoted. Good Luck
Risk

Risk - This is the most important question anyone will ask. You should talk with your surgeon to ask his/her risk profile and experience. One starts with a good history and physical to determine your ability to undergo a general anesthetic and the procedure. Factors such as smoking, obesity, heart disease, pheriphreal vascular disease, diabetes all have certain risk mutlipliers and are taken into account. How long your operation will take, use of dynamic compression hose, long term local anesthetics, overnight care and early ambulation will reduce your risk. In the best locations and with appropriate care the risks are low - but not zero.
Is 45 a good age for my first procedure?

Fabulous Question! Everyone has their own genetic background, history of sun exposure, smoking history, and weight gain/loss that drive your actual appearance. Early facial rejuvenation occurs as early as 40 and is very common by 47 - 50. One should be seen by a board certified Plastic Surgeon for an evaluation and discussion of your goals and create a long term rejuvenation plan. Look at photos of the surgeon's work to see if his/her artistic work and results suits your eye.

It is beneficial for the patient to get to know his future surgeon, to understand the changes occurring to their body, to help set goals and to cheer the patient on as they begin to meet milestones. Knowing what is eventually possible stimulates patients to do even more and better. In addition, getting an idea of the types of procedures and possible costs allow the patient to prepare for reconstruction.

Great Question Alexandra, Performing Liposuction of the Anterior Axillary fold or the axilla at the same time as a breast augmentation is performed all the time. It will lead to increase "soreness" during the postoperative recovery. We do have to manage the risks of doing them together - pain, some postoperative swelling, and care to minimally connect the pocket and the liposuction regions.
